Job Purpose and Objectives:
The primary purpose of this position is to implement, coordinate, maintain and evaluate cognitive services for the 25th Judicial District Community Corrections. Duties include establishing, coordinating and co-facilitating cognitive classes: This position focuses on those offenders identified as needing specialized services according to the Level of Service Inventory-Revised (LSI-R), in accordance with current criteria established by the agency and KDOC standards.
This position is responsible for providing recidivism/risk-reducing skills-building programs to offenders under supervision with the 25th Judicial District Community Corrections. This position is under direct supervision of the program director/deputy director.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Establish, Coordinate and co-facilitate cognitive programming based on the risk level of targeted offenders. Cognitive programs will adhere to the curriculum selected by the Kansas Department of Corrections and will be responsible for quality and content of the material delivered to offender groups.
2. Coordinate services between the agency, offender and service providers.
3. Respond to change productively and complete other tasks as assigned.
4. Maintain contact with offenders on a scheduled basis as appropriate to their needs and status.
5. Schedule, monitor, and be responsible for all administrative aspects of the skills-building programs and classes, including working with staff to establish a referral process.
6. Develop and maintain current and accurate information on offender database(s) according to standards established by the agency, and/or KDOC.
7. Monitor for quality/fidelity; tracking the number who start and finish; monitoring progress to reduce failures; ensuring data entries are made timely and accurately; providing progress reports to officers as necessary, through electronic data entries and in person discussions.
8. Accurately complete assignments, agency forms and written documents within assigned deadlines.
9. Function as a relief officer when needed due to staff absences.
10. Facilitate cognitive-based group processing programs.
11. Provide testimony before the court as necessary.
12. Attend agency meetings and other specified meetings/trainings as required.
13. Respond to change productively and complete other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university required; degree in criminal justice, psychology, social work or related field is required.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university required; degree in criminal justice, psychology, social work or related field is required and one year related experience.
Qualifications and Requirements: Requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
LSI-R certification within 6 months.
SAP Facilitator training within 6 months.
Knowledge of the process of the judicial system.
Knowledge of utilization of community resources.
Knowledge of behavior including socially deviant behavior.
Knowledge of techniques of supervision for adult offenders.
Knowledge of criminal etiology and behavior accompanying sexual deviancy.
Skills in interviewing and obtaining information from adult offenders and people with whom the offender associates while under supervision.
Skills in time management, planning, work organization, job coordination and record keeping.
Bilingual preferred but not required.
Ability to access input and retrieve information from a computer.
Ability to accurately interpret laws, policies, and regulations.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with county officials, other Community Corrections employees, community agencies, and people from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds.
