Maintenance Worker - City of Maize

The City of Maize Public Works Department is accepting applications for a full-time Maintenance Worker position. This position performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks within the City's streets, roads, storm water facilities, parks, and/or City facilities.

Ray Range:

• Maintenance Worker I $17.76 (Step 1) - $25.09 (Step 15)
• Maintenance Worker II $19.62 (Step 1) - $27.72 (Step 15)

Responsibilities:

• Perform construction and general maintenance work
• Perform unskilled and semi-skilled task
• Perform grounds maintenance using City equipment and tools
• Perform proper maintenance on City equipment and tools -Promote the good will of the City
• Perform other tasks as assigned

Skills:

• Ability to perform manual labor
• Ability to work in emergency conditions
• Ability to operate a variety of maintenance equipment and tools safely and efficiently
• Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions
• Ability to life and carry items weighing up to 90 pounds
• Ability to communicate and follow written and oral instructions
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance

Education and Experience:

• High School graduate or equivalent
• At least 18 years old upon hire date.
• Valid Driver's License upon date of hire and ability to maintain insurability with the City.

Preferred for Maintenance II:

• At least two years prior Public Works maintenance experience.
• Possess and maintain a valid Class B CDL Kansas Driver's License with an air brake endorsement

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment requirements, which include a background check, drug screening, physical examination, and verification of a satisfactory driving record.
