Outdoor and indoor job! Work alongside seasoned operators learning laboratory skills and microbiology examination. This position is designed to be a learning position, helping build knowledge and experience in the Public Works arena.
Under the supervision of the Utility or Plant Supervisor, the Environmental Operator in Training (EOIT) Intern will perform unskilled and semi-skilled work in sewer collections, water distribution, stormwater management, wastewater treatment and water treatment. This position will rotate through the division sections on a four (4) month rotation. Individual in this position must be interested in mechanical processes and how to maintain and repair equipment. Must have an interest in how environmental processes are used to clean our water. Tasks will include all duties associated with water, wastewater, and stormwater utilities. Position will be required to complete basic water and wastewater correspondence courses. This is a temporary position lasting a maximum of 999 hours in a twelve (12) month period. Employment will be 20-40 hours per week. This position will not be part of the on-call rotation.
