The City of Coffeyville is accepting applications for the position of full-time Director of Electric Distribution. This leadership position is responsible for managing and overseeing the programs and operations of the Electric Distribution Division within the City’s Electric Utility Department.

Duties include planning, assigning, and reviewing work related to the maintenance and operation of the electric distribution system; supervising and evaluating staff; ensuring compliance with all applicable safety and regulatory standards; and participating in the development of budgets, policies, and long-term strategic goals. The position coordinates closely with other City departments, outside agencies, and the public, and provides complex administrative support to the Executive Director of the Electric Utility and Deputy Director.

Qualified applicants should have substantial experience in electrical distribution, with at least six years as a journeyman lineman and significant project management experience with increasing supervisory responsibilities strongly desired. An associate’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field and successful completion of an accredited apprentice program is preferred. Candidates must possess or be able to obtain a valid State of Kansas Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License.

Applicants must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills; knowledge of federal and state safety regulations; and the ability to manage complex operational and personnel matters. Experience with municipal budgeting and modern utility management practices is a plus.

Pay for this position is based on experience and qualifications, minimum of $80,000/annually plus excellent benefits package including insurance, life insurance, KPERS retirement, deferred compensation offerings and more. Applicants must meet the City of Coffeyville residency requirement to reside within a fifty-mile radius of City Hall at 102 W. 7th St., Coffeyville, Kansas, and be able to respond within one hour of call.
