Seasonal Chemical Applicator/Cemetery Maintenance- Part Time

                                                     

Pay Level - 3, Starting at $13.45/hr.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Noxious Weed Director the seasonal Chemical Applicator/Cemetery Maintenance will perform skilled and semi-skilled manual work in the control and eradication of noxious weeds. This position will also include mowing, weed-eating, and general cemetery maintenance of the grounds.  This position is on a flexible work schedule 5 days a week schedule, varied workday, Monday – Friday. 10-40 hours a week as needed. Eligible candidate must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Kansas driver’s license. Work is subject to review by the Noxious Weeds Director.

Essential Functions

·       Operates a variety of equipment including trucks, sprayers, ATV’s, tractors and mower.

·       Assist with mowing, weed-eating, trimming trees.

·       Prepares chemical solutions and Spray infested area with chemical solutions.

·       Preforms general maintenance on equipment including refueling, changing oil, lubricating parts: making minor adjustments, as necessary.

·       Operate a variety of hand tools, shovel, hoes, rakes and saws.

·       Other duties as assigned.

·       Performs other duties as deemed necessary or assigned.

·       Abide by all standards, conduct and polices, as stated in Employee Handbook.

·       Insure the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools before and after use.

                                                                                                                                     

Position Requirements:

Experience

·       General knowledge of use and maintenance of equipment and tools used.

·       Methods of lifting heavy articles and loads in a safe manner.

Physical:

·       Has ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing, twisting, squatting, reaching over head, grasping, lifting, balancing, kneeling, pushing pulling and handling of objects.

·       Has ability to frequently lift up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

·       Has ability to continuously handle and manage objects up to 10 pounds – weed eating for several hours at a time.

·       Hears normal tones, with or without corrections

Working Conditions

Some hazardous working conditions may exist in this position relating to the handling of chemicals. Extreme weather conditions, chemicals, and toxic fumes are factors in this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions, including temperature extremes.
