Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director, this non-exempt part-time position is responsible for providing nutrition assessment and direct nutritional educational services to WIC participants. Assists in development and implementation of the WIC nutritional education plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- In conjunction with the WIC Coordinator, develop and interpret health department and nutrition policies, procedures and protocols.
- Monitor compliance with WIC and health department policies and procedures.
- Ensure all local policies and procedures are compliant with State Policy and Procedure Manual, and the terms of the WIC contract.
- Provide for positive publicity and the effective distribution of WIC outreach materials.
- Assist the community in understanding the goals and objectives of the WIC Program.
- Help disseminate through statistics and non-specific case histories, information that highlights the success of the WIC program in the community.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with a major in foods, nutrition or related sciences; and successful completion of a dietetic internship accredited by The American Dietetic Association or other equivalent training.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:
Master's degree or equivalent; and two to three years related experience.
Bilingual is preferred.

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Technical:
Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and update of 2013 (HIPAA) including the confidentiality agreement.

Computer Skills:
Must possess strong computer skills that at a minimum include Microsoft Office Suite products including Word and Excel.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Current registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Licensed by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services,
Health Occupations Credentialing
Driver’s license
Maintain current CPR certification
