Park City, Kansas, a vibrant community located just 10 minutes north of downtown Wichita along I-135, is seeking a visionary and dynamic Director of the Library to lead our library into an exciting future. With a population of just under 9,000 residents and a promising economic landscape brimming with upcoming projects, Park City is poised to become a sought-after destination.

About the Library: Our library is an open and welcoming space where individuals of all ages can find comfort and enjoyment through programs, literature, technology, and support. At the core of our mission is a commitment to providing exceptional library services for children, featuring interactive story-time sessions, an innovative summer reading program, and a calendar packed with special events throughout the year. Additionally, we offer an array of services, including book clubs and tailored programs for adults, Wi-Fi access, computer facilities, fax services, and flexible rental spaces for communal use. As a member of KanShare Libraries, an eight-library consortium, and a passport acceptance agency, we take pride in serving a diverse and dynamic population with a comprehensive range of services.

Position Overview: As the Director, you will have the unique opportunity to spearhead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that will shape the library's role in the community's future. We are looking for a passionate individual with strong leadership skills, a commitment to fostering a love for reading and learning among all age groups, and the ability to cultivate community engagement through innovative programming and technology.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in library administration and staff management with a minimum of five (5) years of library experience and two (2) years of supervisory experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement creative and engaging library programs.
  • Familiarity with library consortium operations and management.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to foster community partnerships.
  • Degree from an accredited college or university is preferred and a master’s degree in library science and information science would be a plus.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary ranging from $52,000 to $72,000, depending on education and experience.
  • KPERS (Kansas Public Employees Retirement System).

Library Hours:

  • Monday and Tuesday: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Wednesday to Friday: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
